Research progress on the chemical components and pharmacological effects of Physalis alkekengi L. var. franchetii (Mast.) Makino

Physalis Calyx seu Fructus is the dry calyx or with fruit of Solanaceae plant alkekengi L. var. franchetii (Mast.) Makino, a long history use in medicine and food. However, despite its many potential therapeutic culinary applications, P. not being exploited for these applications on large scale. This study analysed various research related to different chemical components alkekengi, including steroids, flavonoids, alkaloids, phenylpropanoids, sucrose esters, piperazines, volatile oils, polysaccharides, amino acids, trace elements. In addition, pharmacological activities anti-inflammatory, anti microbial, antioxidative, hypoglycaemic, analgesic, anti-tumour, immunomodulatory effects were investigated. Research articles from 1974 2023 obtained websites such as Google Scholar, Baidu China National Knowledge Infrastructure, journal databases Scopus PubMed, keywords components, effects, activities. aims provide comprehensive understanding progress phytochemical aspects reference better exploitation food pharmaceutical industries.
